Lucas is an Inuk from Makkovik, Nunatsiavut. Despite only just graduating from high school in June, Lucas has many years of experience on the land already, having grown up hunting, fishing, trapping, and travelling on the land with his Dad.
Lucas is a natural navigator and has made several solo trips on both ski doo and boat between different communities in Labrador. In addition to his love for the land, Lucas is a skilled mechanic, welder, woodsman, and crafter.
Lucas is known in his community as a provider of traditional foods, bringing fish, eggs, birds, seals, and other foods ready to cook to Elders, single mothers, and other community members who are unable to hunt themselves. In addition to sharing food, Lucas is also a natural storyteller, having countless experiences already.
