Your Guide: Kevin Major

Kevin Major has published twenty-five books, ranging from novels, non-fiction, poetry, and plays to works for youth. He has received numerous awards, including a Governor’s General Award for his first book, Hold Fast. As Near to Heaven by Sea: A History of Newfoundland and Labrador which traces the story of his homeland from continental drift to modern political upheaval.


He has recently ventured into crime fiction, with the offbeat private detective and tour guide Sebastian Synard at its centre. Set in St. John’s, the fifth novel of the crime series, Five For Forteau, was released in 2023.


Kevin lives and writes in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
