Alex Morrow - Kayak Guide

Alex Morrow

Kayak Guide

Born and raised on Vancouver Island BC, Canada, Alex has a natural affinity for the ocean. From childhood days fishing with his father to ambitious expeditions, the sea has been an important part of daily life.

As an SKGABC level 2 kayak guide, outdoor educator, first responder and passionate conservationist Alex has facilitated countless experiences and shared his passion and knowledge of the ocean; guiding paddle trips in Clayoquot Sound, instructed on expedition techniques, and taught surf lessons on remote beaches. Several years of volunteering with the small town of Tofino’s fire department has been his way of giving back to the community he loves. Youth wilderness trips with Outward Bound Canada have also provided fulfilling experiences for both instructor and students alike, and Alex continues his work with the not-for-profit organization annually.

During breaks on land, Alex is an avid cook, specializing in preparing foraged and wild foods. Additionally, he is an experienced musician and has spent many evenings sharing folk songs and improvised guitar melodies.

A life of adventure on the water and a handshake agreement led to a 1,000 nautical mile kayak journey from Wrangell, Alaska to Victoria, BC. In 2019, Alex and four friends spent sixty-nine days paddling a challenging and seldom taken route. Experiencing the wild side of the North Pacific and the beauty of the swell-exposed British Columbia coast reinforced his dedication to a life on water.
