Supporting Science and Scholarship

We hire experts in a wide variety of fields as members of our expedition team; they offer their skills in presentations aboard, interpretation in the Zodiacs, and ashore. From climate science to botany, from wildlife biology to geography, geomorphology, and more, we learn as we go from the best in many fields.

We travel with ornithologists, archeologists, historians, geologists, oceanographers, marine mammologists, and other scientists who seek to educate and enlighten guests about our beautiful, fragile world.

There is a long tradition in expedition travel of working with scientists, researchers, and explorers—going back to the time when we booked space aboard their ships! Now, the tables have turned. Today, our expedition team is made up of experts in a wide variety of fields, who offer their skills in presentations aboard, interpretation in the Zodiacs, and ashore. From climate science to botany, from wildlife biology to geography, geomorphology, and more, we learn as we go from the best in many fields!

But there’s more to our commitment to science than that. Our Researcher-in-Residence program offers space, time and resources aboard the Ocean Endeavour for practising scientists and researchers to gather data on a wide variety of pressing issues, from marine shipping to plastics in the ocean. We facilitate passenger contributions to citizen science, such as bird counts in The Gully Marine Protected Area.

Adventure Canada’s Young Explorers Program encourages and facilitates the spirit of exploration through the pursuit of science, art, and conservation. The program aims to encourage personal growth for young people who will benefit from the direct experience, academic study, cultural exchange, and connecting with the Adventure Canada and Explorers Club community. The Young Explorers Program Alumni will lead the next generation to thoughtful policy, action, and communication.
