Trausti Gunnarsson has spent the last few decades leading naturalist tours in his native country, Iceland. A vivid childhood memory is a surprise meeting with a white Gyr Falcon plucking a Rock Ptarmigan in the rugged lava field where he grew up. With a lifelong interest in birds his knowledge also extends to the flora, mammals, geology and the cultural history of the island.
He is active in conservation, serving as the secretary of BirdLife Iceland (Fuglavernd).
Trausti thoroughly enjoys meeting new people and introducing them to Icelandic nature, people and culture.
