Ruby was born and raised near Ottawa, Ontario and completed an undergraduate degree in biology and environmental science at Trent University. An ornithology course sparked her passion for birds, and she went on to support avian research in northern Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia in the following years.
Ruby now lives in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and is pursuing a master’s degree at Acadia University, supervised by Dr. Mark Mallory. She is studying the behaviour and diet of the endangered Roseate tern on Country Island in Nova Scotia.
In her spare time, Ruby loves to go birding around the Annapolis Valley with her partner, bake sweet treats, and embroider.
