Amanda is a geologist, prospector, writer, educator, and founder and principal consultant of Ignite Education Inc., a consultancy company specializing in geoscience communications and project management services.

Amanda is a geologist, prospector, writer, and educator. She is the founder of Ignite Education Inc., a consultancy company specializing in geoscience education, outreach, training, and public relations. Her career experience involves working with the private and public sectors, including corporations, government, industry associations, not-for-profit organizations, and boards.

Amanda provides business, project management, communications, and public relations roles in the energy, mineral resources sector, economic development, and the tourism industry through her company Ignite Education Inc. She is the former Outreach Geologist with the Geological Survey of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Manager of Exhibits and Public Programs with the Johnson GEO CENTRE, a geological interpretation centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She also spent many years teaching at International Schools in the Bahamas and Norway.

Amanda is the author of the Minerals Guide Newfoundland and Labrador and Women in Mining Career Connections Guide. She is also the principal author of Discovery Global Geopark’s application dossier, in which she led this international project to secure Newfoundland and Labrador’s first UNESCO Global Geopark designation.

Amanda’s love for the outdoors inspired her to pursue a career in Earth science. It was the rocky hills, rugged coastline, and inlets of her childhood hometown on Newfoundland's southwest coast that first sparked an interest in geology. She has travelled with Adventure Canada since 2022.
