    Day 3: Pisac, Urubamba Valley
Learn about the Art of Andean Textiles and Explore Pisac

En route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, or Urubamba Valley, we will make a fascinating stop at an Andean textile centre that aims to preserve the remarkable artistry of Incan textiles. Learn about different techniques and instruments that have been used for hundreds of years in the weaving of these famous textiles. You may even be tempted to bring home a piece or two.

Journey to the town of Pisac, famed for its hilltop ruins overlooking the valley in all its splendour. Step back in time as you wander through the Inti Watana group, showcasing a stunning array of architectural marvels such as the Temple of the Sun, baths, altars, water fountains, a grand ceremonial platform, and an Intihuatana Stone—a volcanic ritual stone used by the Inca as both an astronomical clock and calendar to define the turning of the seasons.

Day 4: Chinchero, Maras Salt Mines, and Moray, Urubamba Valley
Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas

Spend a day exploring the Sacred Valley of the Incas—a sixty-kilometre valley boasting well-preserved archaeological sites, captivating history and culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

Journey to the town of Chinchero, an authentic Andean village brimming with charm. Discover the colonial church that houses a magnificent collection of paintings from the Cusquenian School of Art.

Uncover the wonder of Maras Salt Mines, where generations have preserved and managed the extraction of salt from natural springs. The seemingly never-ending terraces create a spectacular sight as the sun's rays dance upon the vividly coloured salt deposits. Witness this mesmerizing display and learn about the incredible ingenuity of the Incas in harnessing nature's resources.

Experience the awe-inspiring sight of the Moray terraces, where immense cone-shaped depressions house circular formations resembling colossal fingerprints. These unique structures create microclimates at different elevations, believed to have served as a platform for experimental crop cultivation by the Incas.

    Day 5: Machu Picchu
Marvel at Stunning Landscapes and Visit the Lost City of the Incas

In the morning, visit the Ollantaytambo fortress, where visible evidence of its construction during the arrival of the Spaniards can still be seen. This fortress was believed to have been constructed to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of tribes from the jungle lowlands.

Embark on an incredible train journey from the station to the renowned Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. This majestic city, perched atop a mountain and abandoned by the Inca Empire, fell into the embrace of the jungle, remaining lost to humanity until its rediscovery in 1911. During your voyage, be mesmerized by the ever-changing landscape—from the lofty Andean highlands to the beginning of the jungle, known as the “eyebrow of the jungle” and arriving in the town of Aguas Calientes.

Enjoy a thrilling twenty-minute ride up to the elevated citadel of Machu Picchu (3,400 metres above sea level), also known as the Lost City of the Incas. Here, we'll be guided through this extraordinary urban creation of the Inca Empire, marvelling at the colossal walls, terraces, and ramps that appear as though they have been organically carved into the continuous rock escarpments.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
