Day 3: Langjökull Glacier and Húsafell Canyon
Explore Glaciers and Natural Hot SpringsBegin your day with a leisurely morning before your driver-guide picks you up for the day's adventures. After a buffet lunch at Húsafell Bistro, embark on the "Into the Glacier" tour where you’ll journey into the icy depths of Langjökull glacier. Marvel at one of the world's largest ice caves, complete with fascinating ice formations and even an icy chapel!
After returning to Húsafell, enjoy a visit to the stunning Hraunfossar waterfalls, where glacial water cascades through lava fields into the river below and the nearby Barnafoss waterfall—known for its bright blue water and intriguing folklore! If time permits, we'll hike around this beautiful area.

Day 4: Þingvellir (Thingvellir), Geysir, Gullfoss Waterfall, Kerið Crater
Discover Geological WondersKick off your day at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with history and natural wonder. Walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, stand on the historic grounds of Althing—one of the world's oldest parliaments—and soak in the dramatic beauty of this remarkable rift valley.
Enjoy lunch in the Geysir region before exploring the Geysir Geothermal Area. Watch in awe as the Strokkur geyser erupts every few minutes, sending water soaring up to thirty-five metres high!
Next, visit the iconic Gullfoss Waterfall, located in Iceland’s Golden Circle, where glacial waters cascade into a rugged canyon. Known as “Golden Falls,” Gullfoss is one of the country’s most iconic natural attractions, captivating visitors with its thunderous roar, misty spray, and stunning viewpoints.
Then, embark on a horseback ride through the Icelandic countryside, enjoying views of grazing fields and distant glaciers.

Day 5: Þjórsárdalur (Thjorsadalur) Valley, Gjáin, and Reykjavík, Iceland
Immerse Yourself in Volcanic Marvels and Viking HeritageVenture to the spectacular Þjórsárdalur Valley to visit The Commonwealth Farm, a reconstructed Viking farmstead. Based on the excavated Stöng farmhouse, which was buried under volcanic ash in an eruption in 1104, this living exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into the Viking way of life. As you explore the farm, you’ll be transported back in time, though the full story of its original inhabitants remains a mystery.
After lunch at the farm, embark on a scenic hike from Gjáin to Stöng, taking you through some of Iceland's most enchanting landscapes. Along the way, visit the Hjálparfoss Waterfalls, where the rivers Þjórsá and Fossá meet and cascade into a tranquil pool below. The beauty of this spot is so profound that some have chosen it as their final resting place, scattering ashes to be united with nature in this "paradise on earth."
After a day of adventure, we’ll bid our farewells. Those joining Adventure Canada’s Iceland to Greenland: In the Wake of the Vikings expedition will be transferred to Reykjavík's port to board the Ocean Endeavour.
