Sólja Fríða Jóanisdóttir

Cultural Educator

Sólja is a Faroese cultural educator with a background in tourism and aviation.

Hailing from Vágur, Faroe Islands, Sólja Fríða Jóanisdóttir joins Adventure Canada as a Faroese cultural educator. She is the founder and operator of Faroe Adventures, a tour company that takes visitors to the Faroes Islands’ most special and remote places.

A multi-faceted individual, Sólja has a background in both tourism and aviation. She previously worked as a helicopter coordinator, a psychotherapist, in the seafood industry, and as a weather observer. She also holds licenses to drive boats up to thirty metres, transport trucks, and coach buses, as well as operate cranes.

On top of running Faroe Adventures, she is also a student who has recently completed her bachelor's degree in education and has started master’s program. Most importantly, Sólja is passionate about her family and is a proud mother to five kids.

One lesson she hopes people learn from her is to enjoy every moment, be grateful, and take every day as they come.

Sólja speaks eight languages, including Faroese, English, Icelandic, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Spanish, and German. In her free time, Sólja loves to swim in the sea and hike!
