Navarana K'avigak' Sørensen was born in Uummannaq, Thule in northwest Greenland in 1947 and moved to Qaanaaq, Greenland in 1953. She has also lived in Denmark several times and lived in Canada from about 1977-1982.
Navarana is a culturalist, storyteller, and a Thule traditional drum dancer. Her education and professional background focuses on translating and interpretation in Greenland.
She’s worked with many filmmakers from many different countries throughout the years. She is even in a documentary called “Katinngat” (Vanishing Point). The film was made in 2012 by Steve Smith and Julia Szucs for the National Film Board of Canada.
Navarana now lives in Denmark and has two daughters, and is soon to be a grandmother to three. She still loves to travel the world and perform.
