Maryrose Tulurialik
Inuit Cultural Educator
Maryrose is passionate about preserving and sharing Inuktitut, her traditional language.
Maryrose was born and raised in Taloyoak, Nunavut. She was raised by her grandmother and was fluent in Inuktitut from a very young age. Keeping her traditional language alive is very important to her, and she has worked in many roles as a result. For the past twenty-two years, Maryrose has worked for the Government of Nunavut in the healthcare department and has spent time with community elders and learning about their stories from the land.
Maryrose loves to sew and go on boating and hunting trips with her husband, Joe. Over the years, Maryrose and Joe have spent time hunting with and for their family. Spending time on the land and providing this opportunity for their children to learn these traditions is very important to her. She now has her first grandson and loves to bring him too.
Maryrose is a graduate of the Nalunaiqsijiit cruise-ready training program and joins the team as a bear monitor and Inuit cultural educator.
