Mark Spitzer - Gift Shop Manager

Mark Spitzer

Gift Shop Manager

“The helpful young man from the gift shop”

Mark is an enthusiastic, fun, and adventurous young man just starting an exciting Arctic expedition guiding career. He grew up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, has lived in Yukon, Alaska, and now in Norway, making him deeply rooted in—and passionate about—polar regions. His experiences have inspired him to study environmental science and work in eco-tourism.

While this is his first summer on the job, Mark has been traveling with Adventure Canada since he was a wee lad (six years old) alongside his accomplished parents (fellow expedition team members: Aaron Spitzer and Deanna Leonard-Spitzer).

Mark will be helping you with your purchases in the gift shop, setting up audio-visuals for presentations, catching Zodiacs on shore, and being an all-around helpful guy, both on and off the ship. He knows the Ocean Endeavour inside and out and is happy to give you a personally guided tour at any time. He also has an in with the kitchen staff if you need increased access to chocolate chip cookies. When he’s not on board, he studies hard in school, coaches jackrabbits skiing, enjoys travelling, and adventuring with his intrepid little adventure dog, Fridtjof (named after the one and only Fridtjof Nansen).
