Berda Larsen, who prefers to be called Birdie, was born and raised in Sisimiut, Greendland. They are currently based in Nuuk where they are taking their bachelor’s degree in Culture, History, and Society at Ilisimatusarfik, University of Greenland.
Birdie’s visual work focuses on aspects that are relevant for Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), such as mental well-being, 2SLGBTQ+ rights, mythology, and Indigenous knowledge. Among their film credits are Nukappissat (which translates to Boys in English), a re-imagined short art documentary that explores the colonial experience in Greenland, and Tuullik, a short drama of a love story between characters Tukummeq and Luna.
