Asha is from Toronto, Ontario, but moved to Nova Scotia in 2018 to pursue her love for the ocean and all of its weird and wonderful inhabitants. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2022 with honours in marine biology at Dalhousie University, where she studied marine mammals and birds, with a focus on individual consistency in migratory movements of American Herring Gulls for her honours project.
Asha is now a master’s student at Acadia University, researching the breeding propensity of American common eiders along the northern Atlantic coast of North America. She is supervised by Dr. Sarah Gutowsky from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Dr. Mark Mallory of Acadia University, Dr. Frances Buderman of Pennsylvanian State University, and Scott Gilliland from ECCC.
In her downtime, she enjoys watching horror films, reading, and gardening. Asha has a passion for travel and spends time exploring places all across Canada, as well as a number of wonderful countries around the world.
