Aleksandra was born in Poland and later moved from the charming French city of Saint-Étienne, where she began her Master of Science in bioacoustics. Today, she lives in the beautiful West of Scotland, in Oban.

She holds a degree in oceanography and hydrography, where she discovered the power of sound in exploring the underwater world. From using active acoustics and echosounders to study the seabed, she became increasingly captivated by bioacoustics and the art of passive listening to the marine environment.

Her heart remains in Antarctica, where she spent a year as part of the 46th Polish Antarctic Expedition, conducting oceanographic research. It was there, during unforgettable encounters with whales, that her career path truly began to take shape. These days, you’re just as likely to spot her on her bicycle, scanning the Scottish islands for marine mammals.

Her MSc research focuses on detecting minke whales and analyzing their vocal repertoire.
