Explore Fibre Arts in Newfoundland: Tradition, Craft, and Community

Guests fibre arts workshop on board

Are you a fibre arts enthusiast seeking an immersive journey into the rich craft heritage of Newfoundland/Ktaqmkuk? Adventure Canada’s exclusive Fibre Arts Program invites you to explore the heart of local textile traditions while travelling scenic coastlines.

In a small group of just twelve participants, you’ll visit local studios, galleries, and craft stores, meeting skilled artisans who bring traditional caribou tufting, leather working, rug hooking, and knitting techniques to life. Learn from contemporary artists and honoured Mi’kmaq Elders and experience the magic firsthand by trying these time-honoured methods yourself.

After a day of exploration and learning, unwind in the evenings with engaging on board talks and cozy crafting circles. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned fibre artist, our program offers a welcoming space to learn, share, and create. Bring along your own project or simply enjoy the company of like-minded textile lovers.

Learn the stories of local harvesters, producers, and artists—and gain a deeper appreciation of the journey from fibre to fabric.
