Emily was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and started her life in Nunavut, with parents who spent as much time on the land as they could. She later moved to Labrador, where she could explore with slightly less concern for bears and joined her family on regular outdoor excursions.
Having grown up camping, berry picking, and getting up close with the ground cover of Canada's boreal forests, Emily's curiosity about the mechanics of ecosystems developed into a desire for preservation through education.
Emily's academic career began at NSCAD University in Halifax, where she discovered her love for sharing her interests in nature and traditional knowledge through art. Her passion for learning and adventure led her to join Adventure Canada as a Young Explorer last summer, and in January, she joined the Adventure Canada office staff full-time as an expedition team coordinator.
This summer, Emily will be managing the Gift Shop on board and sharing fascinating facts about foliage on deck. With her experiences at Adventure Canada, she is excited to continue sharing her enthusiasm for northern ecology and passion for nature preservation with others.
