Dennis Minty

Photographer, Wildlife Biologist, Host

Dennis delights in celebrating a sense of place—wherever that place may be. His photography has been published worldwide and he is the author of nine books.

Dennis has been working with Adventure Canada since 2002 as a naturalist and photographer in the Arctic, Newfoundland, Antarctica, New Zealand, Galapagos, and Scotland. Dennis’s path—from his small island roots in Twillingate, Newfoundland to his current career as a photographer and eco-tour leader—has taken him through more than three decades of local and international work.

Educated as a wildlife biologist, his first professional job was as the designer/manager of a nature education and wildlife rehabilitation centre. He also worked for nearly thirty years as an environmental educator in Newfoundland and Labrador, Africa, the Seychelles, and the Caribbean. Dennis is the author of nine educational and photographic books and has tried his hand at dairy farming and even working as a polar bear guide in Churchill, Manitoba.

For him, nature and photography are inseparable. Dennis immerses himself in nature through photography and seeks to inspire in the viewer a deeper connection with the natural world. His latest book, Labrador: The Big Land was published in 2016 and a sister volume, Newfoundland: An Island Apart, came out a year earlier.

Dennis resides in Clarke’s Beach Newfoundland with his wife Antje Springmann and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Thule. He is very proud of his three grown children and seven grandchildren.
