Catherine Kennedy - Vegetatian Ecologist

Catherine Kennedy

Vegetatian Ecologist

As vegetation ecologist for the Yukon Government, Catherine spent every field season in permafrost environments, conducting ecological surveys with soil and terrain.

Catherine’s passion for the far north was ignited with her first job as a field biologist in the wilds of the Stikine River in northern British Columbia. Compelled to keep migrating north, she reached the Yukon and knew she was home. As vegetation ecologist for the Yukon Government, Catherine spent every field season in permafrost environments, conducting ecological surveys with soil and terrain scientists throughout the territory.

Her work over three decades has included vegetation inventories of numerous parks and protected areas, such as Herschel Island and Ivvavik, and researching vegetation change on the Yukon’s North Slope.
