Ashley Hamilton - Kayak Guide

Ashley Hamilton

Kayak Guide

Ashley is a wilderness guide and teacher whose passion is exploring the wild oceans and experiencing the beauty and complexity of the ecosystems she encounters.

Ashley lives most of the year on the Pacific, Arctic, and Southern oceans paddling and studying the wild animals around her.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science and Education degree, she led social justice exchange expeditions in India, Morocco, and Belize before settling down to work as a director and teacher at an outdoor experiential school for inner-city youth in Toronto.

Today she spends most of her time outside: sea kayaking and running citizen science programs in Antarctica; working as a mushing guide with huskies in Northern Ontario; or paddling with whales and eagles along the BC coast, and loving every minute of it. Her greatest joy is facilitating experiences where people connect with each other and with the natural world.

When not on the ocean she lives in Toronto with her partner, working on a variety of environmental education and research projects. She loves the diverse ethnic cuisine in the city and the music scene, and spends her free time cycling and growing things in her wild urban garden.

She looks forward to exploring with you in Zodiacs and kayaks, on deck taking photos, studying birds, and listening to the ocean.
