Food Day Canada / Journée des terroirs

Food Day Canada is chef-led national celebration of local food that celebrates Canadian farmers and fishers, our chefs and researchers, and above all, our home cooks.

Food Day Canada / Journée des terroirs is a massive, chef-led national celebration of local food, celebrated on the August long weekend. Although FDC began as a response to the 2003 beef crisis, it evolved quickly as it became clear that at that time of year, there is locally-harvested, fabulous food in every single region of Canada. It is indeed our country’s day to pick, serve and eat Canadian! It's an opportunity for us to join hands in one massive celebration in praise of our farmers and fishers, our chefs and researchers, and above all, our home cooks.

In 2019, Adventure Canada is pleased to welcome Anita Stewart – culinary author, food activist, and founder of Food Day Canada – aboard our Newfoundland Circumnavigation expedition.
