Day 1:
Terrace, BC
The Adventure Begins
Arrive in Terrace, nestled between the Coast Mountains and Skeena River. Take in the laid-back charm of this northern town—the gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest!
Enjoy a welcome orientation and meet your expedition team and fellow travellers. Your journey into one of the planet’s last remaining temperate rainforests begins today!

Day 2:
Kitamaat
Journey to Kitamaat and Board the Cascadia
Enjoy a scenic overland journey to the Haisla community of Kitamaat. Here, we’ll board the expedition catamaran Cascadia—your home for the journey ahead.
As we sail into Douglas Channel, watch for sea lions, eagles, and the first signs of the wild coast to come.

Day 3:
Gardner Canal & Crab River
Kayak Majestic Fjords and Receive a Warm Welcome
Paddle the sheltered waters of Gardner Canal, where towering fjord walls rise on either side.
Arrive at Crab River for a shoreside welcome ceremony—an invitation to connect with place and community. Later, soak in nearby hot springs surrounded by rainforest stillness.
Day 4:
Kitlope Rainforest
Explore Ancient Forests
Venture into the heart of the Kitlope Valley—home to the world’s largest intact coastal temperate rainforest. As we navigate its fjords and estuaries, scan the shoreline for grizzlies, black bears, and soaring eagles.
Along the way, learn about Indigenous stewardship and the ecological significance of this protected area.

Day 5:
Gitga’at First Nation
Connect With Gitga’at Culture and Search for the Spirit Bear
Step ashore in the Gitga’at First Nation community of Txalgiuw (Hartley Bay), where generations of knowledge and deep ties to the land and sea shape daily life. Be welcomed by community members and gain insight into the enduring cultural traditions of the Tsimshian people.
With guidance and respect, venture into spirit bear territory in search of moksgm’ol—the rare white Kermode bear, found only in this region. If fortune favours, we may catch a glimpse of this elusive and sacred animal.

Day 6:
Princess Royal Island
Learn About Whale Conservation Efforts
Arrive near the shores of Princess Royal Island, a biodiversity hotspot in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. Go ashore to meet researchers at a remote whale station and learn about the conservation efforts underway in these coastal waters.
Scan the surrounding seas for humpback, orcas and other marine life, then round out the day with a shore landing or an evening paddle.

Day 7:
Caamaño & Estevan Sounds
Sail the Cetacean Highway
Cruise the rich marine corridor of Caamaño and Estevan Sounds —known as whale “superhighways” for their abundance of humpbacks, orcas, and porpoises. Learn how ocean currents, underwater geography, and Indigenous-led conservation intersect to support this ecosystem.
Relax on deck as we follow the whales' path through these biodiverse channels, taking in sweeping views and the rhythm of the open sea.

Day 8:
At Sea
Search for Coastal Carnivores and Discover Intertidal Life
Explore the coast by kayak or Zodiac along remote stretches of shoreline, where the rhythms of the tides shape vibrant intertidal ecosystems. Learn about barnacles, kelp forests, and sea stars as you explore this rich marine edge.
With luck and quiet observation, we may spot signs of the elusive coastal wolf—a rare and intelligent predator uniquely adapted to this environment.

Day 9:
Terrace, BC
A Fond Farewell
Disembark in Kitamaat and transfer back to Terrace, carrying with you the stories, knowledge, and moments that have shaped this journey.
We recommend booking outbound flights no earlier than noon to allow time for transfers.

- Tour duration: 9 days
- Group size: 24 guests
- Fitness Level: Moderate
- Age Limitation: No age limit, but minimal activities for children.
- Fitness Level: Guests should be comfortable navigating small boat transfers, beach landings without docks, and staircases onboard; while some accessibility accommodations exist, shore excursions may be limited for those with reduced mobility.
- Cruise Payments: International Cruise fares are priced in US dollars and are per person, per Cruise. A $2,500 USD deposit per person, per cruise is required to register. Your final balance for the Cruise is due 120 days prior to the scheduled departure date (“Departure Date”). All late payments are subject to a penalty of 2% interest per month, or 24% per annum. Adventure Canada reserves the right to cancel your booking if it is not paid within 120 days of the Departure Date or deny boarding due to any unpaid balances, without a refund to you. Name changes are not permitted.
- Cancellation by the Passenger: Adventure Canada receiving a written notice of cancellation at least 121 days prior to the Departure Date, you shall receive a refund of the amount paid for the Cruise, less an administrative penalty of $2,500 USD per person, per Cruise. If a written notice of cancellation is received by Adventure Canada between 91 and 120 days prior to the Departure Date, the cancellation penalty is 65% of your total cruise cost. A refund of 35% of the amount paid for the Cruise will be issued provided the passenger is up to date on all payments. In the event of a cancellation made 95 days or less before the scheduled date of departure, you will forfeit any amount paid for the Cruise to that date. For these and other reasons mentioned within these Terms and Conditions, you are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive cancellation insurance at the time of registration.
- Travel Insurance: A minimum of Emergency Medical and Evacuation Insurance is mandatory for participation in all Adventure Canada Cruises. You must carry a minimum of $500,000 USD per person emergency medical and evacuation coverage.
- Future Travel Credit: Future Travel Credits do not apply to and will not be issued for any cancellation reason by the passenger.
