Aboard our 12-passenger Cessna Caravan, we left Jo-Berg and in the first few days we saw the "Big 5" - the rhino, leopard, lion, buffalo and elephant at our first camp, Mala Mala. The sightings would continue with everything from cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos and baboons making an appearance. Highlights included: a flight over Victoria Falls and the Okavango Delta in helicopters; showering outside, overlooking herds of zebra; sundowners in the Land Rovers; sitting among a herd of cape buffalo; elephants joining us for lunch... too much to list! There will be an evolving photo library available on our site, make sure to check it out! We're thinking "Same time next year?" Let us know if you're interested! Join Ken this year in the Arctic on Adventure Canada's High Arctic Adventure: September 18-30th, 2008. As we head north towards Kane Basin he will share with us the many interesting and, at times, obscure facts about Kane and exploration that he has picked up during his extensive research on Northern History. Harper Serves 10-Years, Banished to TuscanyWednesday, February 27. 2008 February marks ten years of Judy Harper's loyal and dedicated service to Adventure Canada. Re-joining the work force after raising two (usually) wonderful children, Judy joined the AC team to assist with client services and reservations. Over the past decade Judy has not only become a favourite with AC clients but our very own office mom, making sure that the driveway has been shoveled, we all have eaten our lunch and brushed our teeth before we go out in public. If we had beds here she probably would have tucked us in! Her enthusiasm for AC and genuine love of her clients is infectious and she leads through example in providing top care for our travellers. We congratulate Judy for putting up with all of us for as long as she has. To celebrate her anniversary, Judy will be joined by her husband David in Tuscany this April. Judy many thanks for all of your contributions and hard work over the past ten years, we hope to see you for another ten! Regarding the recent news of the MS Explorer and it's troubles in the Antarctic region:
Please be advised that this voyage is in no way associated with Adventure Canada. We have been a charterer of the vessel in the past, primarily in the Canadian Arctic, Newfoundland and Western Europe. Adventure Canada does not staff the MS Explorer outside of itβs charter period, primarily in the months of August and September. We are immensely relieved that all passengers and crew are safe. We are saddened by this situation befalling such a capable and historic vessel and offer our condolences to GAP Adventures. We are currently making arrangements to secure alternate vessels for our 2008 Season and do not, at this time, believe that there will be a major interruption in our intended programming. An agreement is already in place for Adventure Canada to move the majority of its shipboard programming to the Clipper Adventurer for the 2009 season. More information will be provided as it becomes available. Please check our website for updates.
