Build A House For Community Birds!
Visitthe Columbia Valley Botanical Gardens in Invermere BC for a spring
morning in the Community Greenhouse on April 18th, 2009 from 10am-1pm,
where recycled material will be used to decorate birdhouses. The
birdhouses will be built by the high school construction class and then
decorated during the workshop. All birdhouses will be judged at the
Pynloges Cultural Centre during Wings week and then donated to the
community for distribution around the community, such as the Community
Greenhouse and Heritage Garden. All creativity and ages are welcome. If
you have recycled material that you would like to bring along or donate
please do so.

Pouch Cove Fundraising Art Auction & Party
Adventure
Canada is excited to let you know about the upcoming Pouch Cove
Fundraising Art Auction & Gallery which features work from
Drawnonward, a group of artists who have travelled with Adventure
Canada over the past four years.
2009 marks the twentieth year of the Pouch Cove Foundation's Artist Residency Program on the edge of the North Atlantic.
They have survived solely through the generosity of the participating artists and friends who appreciate our efforts.
As
always there will be lots of prints, paintings and photographs on
offer, all kindly donated by Canadian and International artists.
Some can be seen on the http://www.pouchcove.org web site. Some art will only be available at the auction.So you have to come to the auction to see it all!
The auctioneer is Ritchie's irrepressible Perry Tung. The gorgeous food is by Carmelite Catering, the alcohol
will
flow freely so we urge attendees to take the street car or taxi. An
after party will be hosted at The Brass Taps (College and Dovercourt).
Tickets are $20 and are available at the door or by calling 1-800-563-9100.
Please come out and support the Foundation and have a great Newfoundland time!

Lens & Shutter Imaging Expo 2009
TheLens & Shutter Imaging Expo is back! This year it's bigger and
better than ever before. They've got a new location and a new series of
in-depth seminars from
leading experts.
At last year's show guest speakers, and AC
Resource Staff Alumni Larry Frank and Danny Catt wowed audiences with
their exciting travel seminars. This year Danny and Larry have joined
forces to present a one day travel workshop that will surely inspire
the photographer in all of us.

Join AC Past Traveller & Photographer Paul Yarnall for a juried display of the best of local fine art photography.This exhibit provides an opportunity for area photographers to show
their work in a fine art gallery for both jury and popular judging. Paul
felt it was time to see how his work would be received in the context of
other competing images. All who entered were assured of at least one of
their images making the final gallery, thus insuring the democratic
roots of this show.

Ancient Culture" - Haidia Gwaii. This is an exhibition and sale of new
work by artist and fellow AC traveller Marilyn Lightstone. This
exhibition was inspired by Marilyn's visit to the Queen Charlotte
Islands by Sailboat, with Adventure Canada in 2007.

Lights Out This Saturday
EarthHour is this coming Saturday, March 28th. Don't forget to turn out your
lights between 8:30-9:30 pm local time to show your support!
Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund),
held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses
to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for
one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.
Experience
the effects of climate change and why your participation in Earth Hour
is important with an expedition to the Arctic. Canada's Arctic is
warming faster than anywhere else on the planet. In the past 30 years,
25% of Arctic sea ice has disappeared, pushing the polar bears to the
brink of survival. On Adventure Canada's expeditions, you will get to
see first hand the effects of climate change not only on the landscape
and wildlife that inhabit our Arctic regions, but also on the Inuit who
live there.
